Patricia Kosseim appointed as the new Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario

Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP announced that Patricia Kosseim (BCL’92, LLB’92) was appointed as the new Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario. She will begin a five-year term starting July 1, 2020. Read the full announcement.
David Matyas awarded 2020 Gates Cambridge Scholarship

Congratulations to David Matyas, BCL/LLB’19, who is one of 77 new scholars to be awarded a Gates Cambridge Scholarship. The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is one of the world’s most sought after awards. The scholarship program was established in 2000 after the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation donated $210 million to the University of Cambridge to fund an international postgraduate scholarship program for students who are both academically outstanding and show a strong commitment to improving the lives of others. Jérémy Boulanger-Bonnelly, BCL/LLB’15, actuellement doctorant à la Faculté de droit de l’Université de Toronto, a remporté une bourse doctorale de la Fondation Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Après avoir complété son BCL/LLB, M. Boulanger-Bonnelly a travaillé comme auxiliaire juridique auprès du juge Clément Gascon à la Cour suprême du Canada, puis il a pratiqué quelque temps au privé avant de poursuivre des études de cycle supérieur. Kirsten Hillman nommée ambassadrice du Canada aux États-Unis

Kirsten Hillman (BCL’93, LLB’93), qui est actuellement l’ambassadrice par intérim à Washington, prend officiellement place dans le grand bureau de l’ambassade du Canada sur Pennsylvania Avenue, a annoncé le premier ministre Justin Trudeau jeudi matin.
Mme Hillman n’est pas étrangère aux négociations difficiles avec le plus grand partenaire commercial du pays, ayant joué un rôle central dans l’effort de 13 mois pour négocier un remplacement à l’Accord de libre-échange nord-américain. Lire la suite…
