On January 28, 2015, Martine Turcotte, BCL 1982, LLB 1982, Vice Chair of Bell Québec, spoke at a special sold-out event at the Omni Mont-Royal about her career and current portfolio as part of a series featuring McGill alumni.

Martine Turcotte is the first woman to be appointed Chief Legal Officer at Bell and the youngest to join the corporation’s executive team. In her current position at Bell, Québec, Mme Turcotte oversees all business, government and community investment initiatives in the province.

In an open discussion with Coleen MacKinnon, Director for Québec and Atlantic Canada at Catalyst Canada, Mme Turcotte shared how she has successfully juggled her personal and professional commitments, and what she has learned during her 20 years at Bell.

The event drew many students and recent graduates, including first-year student Rachelle Bastarache, who noted that “it was refreshing and inspiring to hear from a woman, someone whom I can relate to, who has been through the program and succeeded.”

“With the face of legal education changing, and McGill priding itself on the diversity of its students and the transsystemic approach used, I am hopeful that in the future, we will see more alums like Martine speaking at the Faculty,” added Ms. Bastarache.
