Stéphane Duranleau (Montarville, QC)

Stéphane Duranleau a terminé le Programme National de droit de McGill en 1996 et est avocat depuis 1997. Il est parmi les rares avocats à détenir le titre de professionnel accrédité en commerce international depuis 2000. Il a livré plusieurs conférences dans les réseaux d’affaires, notamment le réseau des World Trade Centres, à travers le Canada. Ses expériences sont variées : enseignement, formateur professionnel, chef de missions internationales, homme d’affaires, dirigeant, membre de conseils d’administration tant en affaires qu’au niveau communautaire.

Joe Oliver (Eglinton—Lawrence, ON)

Joe Oliver was elected to the House of Commons for the first time in May 2011. In March 2014, he was appointed Minister of Finance. Prior to his election to Parliament, Mr. Oliver had a career in the investment banking industry. He began his investment banking career at Merrill Lynch, and served in senior positions at other investment dealers and as Executive Director of the Ontario Securities Commission. Oliver obtained both his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Civil Law at McGill University. He was called to the Quebec Bar and later graduated with an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.

Greg Rickford (Kenora, ON)

In March 2014, Greg was appointed Minister of Natural Resources. Greg has worked as a nurse and lawyer in remote First Nations communities of northern Ontario. He holds degrees in common and civil law from McGill University and pursued additional legal studies at the University of Arizona on an international exchange scholarship.

Will Amos (Pontiac, QC) – ELECTED

William Amos est détenteur d’un baccalauréat en Arts et sciences de l’Université McMaster, d’une maîtrise en Sciences politiques de l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique et d’un double diplôme de premier cycle en droit civil et en common law de l’Université McGill. William a œuvré dans différents secteurs juridiques,  au privé, au public et pour des organisations à but non lucratif. À l’heure actuelle, William travaille comme directeur régional d’une organisation environnementale nationale qui offre des conseils juridiques gratuits aux groupes communautaires et aux citoyens sur des enjeux environnementaux.

Rachel Bendayan (Outremont, QC)

Prior to running for office, Rachel Bendayan practised litigation and international arbitration at Norton Rose Fulbright. Before joining Norton Rose, she was an independent consultant and researcher acting for various organizations at conferences such as the G8 Summit in Évian, France, and the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Anthony Housefather (Mont-Royal, QC) – ELECTED

Anthony est titulaire du diplôme conjoint en droit (B.C.L. et LL.B.) de l’Université McGill et d’une maîtrise en administration des affaires (MBA) de la John Molson School of Business de l’Université Concordia. Il œuvre au sein de Dialogic Corporation, une société multinationale de technologie. Anthony a gravi les échelons de cette entreprise et occupe maintenant le poste de vice-président exécutif, affaires corporatives et services juridiques.

David Lametti (LaSalle–Émard–Verdun, QC) – ELECTED

David Lametti est professeur titulaire à la Faculté de droit de l’Université McGill spécialisé en droit des biens, en propriété intellectuelle ainsi qu’en droit privé et comparé. Il est aussi cofondateur et membre du Centre des politiques en propriété intellectuelle en plus d’avoir servi comme vice-doyen à l’enseignement de la Faculté de droit. En plus de ses tâches de professeur, David est membre du Sénat de McGill et est gouverneur au sein de la Fondation du Barreau du Québec. Avec son épouse Geneviève Saumier, David a trois enfants : André, Gabrielle et Dominique.

Joël Lightbound (Louis-Hébert, QC) – ELECTED

Jeune avocat, Joël est membre du Barreau du Québec et devrait bientôt être admis au Barreau de New York et à l’Association du Barreau américain. C’est au sein du cabinet Fasken Martineau DuMoulin à Montréal que Joël a commencé sa carrière. Il y a travaillé à la fois comme étudiant, stagiaire et avocat. Il pratique actuellement le droit dans la région de Québec pour une firme spécialisée en immigration.

Catherine McKenna (Ottawa Centre, ON) – ELECTED

Catherine co-founded and was the Executive Director of Canadian Lawyers Abroad, and until recently, was the Executive Director of the Banff Forum, a leading Canadian organization that brings together young leaders to discuss how to tackle key public policy challenges facing Canada. She has worked internationally as a legal adviser for the UN in East Timor and on trade issues in Indonesia. Catherine is married and has three young children.

Marc Miller (Ville-Marie-Le Sud-Ouest-Île-des-Soeurs, QC) – ELECTED

Marc Miller a grandi à Montréal et est diplômé de l’Université McGill en droit civil et en common law. Ayant déjà travaillé à Stockholm et New-York, il travaille actuellement dans le domaine des fusions et acquisitions pour la firme Stikeman Elliott et se spécialise dans le droit international et commercial. Il est aussi détenteur d’un baccalauréat et d’une maîtrise en sciences politiques de l’Université de Montréal.

Nick Whalen (St. John’s East, NL) – ELECTED

Nick has an LLB from McGill University, and earned both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Engineering from Queen’s University. He currently lives in St. John’s with his wife and their two children. Nick is a partner and patent agent at the law firm McInnes Cooper, where he practices corporate commercial law, energy law, and intellectual property law. He was recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada for his practices in Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law.

Tanya de Mello (Etobicoke-Centre)

Trained in economics and law, Tanya also holds Masters degrees in public policy and urban planning from Princeton. Currently, Tanya serves as an Equity & Diversity specialist at the University of Toronto. During her career, she has helped major firms improve hiring practices and create more opportunities through diversity initiatives. She has served the United Nations on three continents, working with refugees and displaced persons. She also co-founded two NGOs to engage Toronto youth: The World Youth Centre and Toronto Volunteer Bridge.

James Hughes (NDG-Westmount)

James is best known to Montrealers as the former Director General of the Old Brewery Mission. Under his leadership, the organization went from simply offering services to homeless people to one of Canada’s leading institutions in the fight against homelessness. James was a Deputy Minister of Social Development in New Brunswick where he managed a budget of $1 billion and a staff of 2,000. He led reform in child protection, poverty reduction and seniors’ services. James was a practicing lawyer for many years after obtaining degrees from Queen’s, Cambridge and McGill. James is a proud NDGer where he lives with his wife and three children.

Thomas Mulcair (Outremont) – ELECTED

Tom graduated from Vanier College in 1972 and then from McGill Law in 1976. He worked in the Legislative Affairs branch of Quebec’s Ministry of Justice and entered the National Assembly in 1994 as a member of the Quebec Liberal Party. He joined the NDP in 2007, won the by-election in Outremont and was appointed co-deputy leader of the NDP that same year. At the 2012 NDP leadership convention, he was elected leader of the party.

Phil Trotter (Etobicoke-Lakeshore, ON)

As a lawyer and mediator, Phil launched and managed his own office serving refugees and local individuals and businesses, Phil knows what it takes to make tough decisions and navigate complex issues affecting people’s lives and safety. He’s known for finding common ground and successfully resolving conflicts. Phil moved to Toronto after completing his law degree at McGill. He was raised in a working-class neighbourhood near Montreal and worked in a variety of service and labourer jobs before returning to university as a mature student.

Allison Turner (Ville-Marie-Le Sud-Ouest-Île-des-Soeurs, QC)

Growing up in a large working-class family in Montreal, Allison learned the value of hard work and responsibility from an early age. She worked part-time jobs to put herself through university, ultimately earning law degrees from McGill and Université de Montréal. Allison has over 20 years of local and international legal experience, including at the UN’s International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).
